Memories in Motion
I am an artist, a storyteller, and enjoy capturing a moment through 2 dimensional mediums. Memories in Motion series is inspired by my collection of photographs that were taken on the road and recreated through acrylic paint. Using these materials help create the narrative of a fleeting moment. The process encourages the artist and viewer to appreciate the subjects that are taken for granted like sitting in traffic or in a passing storm. Finding beauty in the up-close abstract reflections and light witnessed in the car creates a mystery for those who are unaware of the bigger picture. The images of raindrops resting on the rearview mirror focuses on each detail which creates a new microscopic world for the viewer. As a longtime commuter, I will always look for passing sunsets and rain drops to make the road trip more memorable.

Hands
2021
This series is a collection of acrylic painted hands on canvas. These are all representations of females who empower me and give me the strength to be a better woman. Each anonymous hand has made me a better mother, granddaughter, and friend. These hands are portraits of their beauty and strength. Each individual remains anonymous so they are relatable to the viewer. All 5 paintings are now sold.

PAINTINGS OF SPEECH
2009
This series is based on conversations. Communication is key to connecting with others. These small goache paintings reflect the moments captured through a conversation with different people. Details in the face create a story but the cropped compositions keep them anonymous.

BFA Thesis
Understanding the dynamics of a family is important to me. In my paintings, I tend to focus on relationships and memories that I have experienced or wished for. Some compositions are about the moments in life that sculpt a person, others concentrate on the memories that linger after the experience. I have collected aged photographs of family events. The photographs inspire me to recreate the environment merging their past with my present. These moments that have been lost or abandoned from a family can be captured in a new medium. By forming the anonymous figures with paint, I allow the viewer to relate to the characters and find their own.
Images created through 2008-2012.

Anonymous Life Story series has been an ongoing project, during which I have been collecting strangers’ biographies and recreating them with the use of new material. The objective of the project is to bring to life others’ untold narratives and give them visual and tangible validation. Empowering people to use their voice and find a way to be heard has been a theme throughout my career as an artist. I gain inspiration through others’ memories and am a storyteller.
2 dimensional materials help me to create their narrative on canvas or paper. Each life story has been documented and shared through my social media channels since March 2021. The first year of this project was done on a weekly basis. After that, I chose to stay with this on a monthly basis. The art materials connect me to the story and reflects a symbolic energy I felt while creating. I have collected, recreated, and shared multiple anonymous life stories throughout the years. I continue to as long as there are submissions. The monthly recreations are consistently shared on my instagram. All creations stay anonymous.
Because everyone’s story is important and deserves to be heard.
