“Dreamscapes” group exhibition was created by the Young Artists
Mentoring Program from November 2024 - March 2025. This exhibition’s
inspiration was the Morristown High School students’ dreams as expressed
through the Surrealist art style. Thanks to Morris Arts, the program was a
huge success! Director, Toni Paolillo designed the program to focus on
inspiring students by bringing in local artists to teach them new creative
processes while developing artist statements that reflect the context of their
works. The program culminated with the students submitting their artwork
to a local gallery. Curator of Surreal Creamery, Caitlin Lodato visited
throughout the program helping each student develop their unique
creations, as well as the large group canvases. Throughout the time spent,
the students worked on monoprints, collage, gold leaf, acrylic painting and
stop motion animation. It was important to the director to give the students
opportunity to explore materials they may not otherwise experience. These
pieces are the apogee of the students’ hard work and openness to sharing
their dreams in new ways. We hope you enjoy the exhibition and
appreciate you supporting the arts!
