This week I felt stretched physically and mentally to pure exhaustion. I believe at times there is strong correlation to my life and a mouse on a wheel. This week I was unable to see the mini accomplishments. I felt stuck while in overdrive. In mid conversation with a very good friend of mine, I had an "Ah ha moment". While I vented to her, it all came out as one big metaphor. I imagined my daily routine as a pie chart. How much energy I devote throughout the day while envisioning what was left for me. As the circles started filling up I noticed the lack of energy put toward self care. Seeing it verses feeling it had a bigger impact.
It doesn't matter if you're a parent or not, we all do this. I encourage you to fill in the circle for yourselves and see what are your priorities and what are you pushing aside. Have you thought about your energy today? What do you physically focus on? Do you have a healthy balance when it comes to your physical and mental devotion?
1. Reassess.
2. Evaluate.
3. Adjust.
It's an eye opener for me and I hope it helps you as well.
